Absinthe.....1500 miles and this is what it comes to. Me, bean, fat josh and R Dub drinking absinthe on bourbon street. This was illegal in the US until about 2 years ago. This is what hemingway drank. Oh well....just one more day in the life of experience wranglers.

We made it!

So that is New Orleans in the background. We are enjoying a drink at the hotel bar in the French Quarter. Our old car made the trip and is resting in the hotel lot waiting for its lay long trip to Indiana on Tuesday with an ubjoqb out come. Penny has been good to us. We will be here all day tomorrow so more to come.

Super embarrassing

Its a bird, its a plane, no its a bunch of out of shape super men! Yep not only are we sporting one of the ugliest rides this side of the mississippi, we are doing our ride down to newport, tn dressed as superman. This makes small town bathroom breaks a little awkward especially in a unitard. Should be an interesting day. More to come.

The first time testing her out on a rough road. We made it all the way to Harrisburg, WV. I was freeked out by this car this morning. Coming down the NJ Parkway was scary this morning, the speed of all the cars around us made it seem like we were crawling. But once we hit the mountains across skyline drive things just smoothed out and it was smooth sailing. We are heading out o drink some with the rest of the crew. More fun tomorrow.

Our competition

So here is some of our competition. We are getting ready to roll out now. I'm taking the first shift off the island we should have some more to report after our first challenge today.

WTF? Who is this guy? Whered he come from? Well for all those keeping track at home we've just started on our journey. The gang is all here. Headed out on 50 and traffic isn't too bad....yet

Well, 6 cans of spray pain, two cans of primer and a roller brush and she ready to roll. We took her for a ride around Lincoln park to stretch her legs and bounce her big back end some and we are all feeling confident she will make NYC in good shape. Lots more craziness to come so stay tuned.

Well as far as the state of Virginia is concerned our ol girl is legal. Now all that is left is to sneak on past DC DMV and we are South bound come the end of next week. She won't look like this for long so take a good look at this before picture. More to come soon once we get this piece of crap out of my office garage and out somewhere were we can work on her. Just one of the problems with living on the hill. No where to park or work on a semi legal car with no DC parking permit. Seems silly to get a parking permit for a car that is doomed. Stay tuned.

So our BABE Rally car is parked until we can make it legal. She was a good find, but pushing all the paper work thru the DC government can be tricky. We have a backup car, but really want to take the old wagon that we found as it will accommodate four guys and a large cooler of beer in the back.

Many people have had problems with the DC DMV. It is like they pride themselves on being assholes. I had to go back four times in order to get my registration and driver's license. First you can't prove who you are, and then you can't prove you actually live in DC, and sometimes you can't prove that you actually own your car. They just suck and don't care that they suck. Each time I was there at least one person would either get in a yelling match with the person behind the desk or storm out of the office.

So we hope to have a bit of luck with our hooptie and the DC DMV and it will be New Orleans bound. We'll keep you posted.
